What is FREE CHLORINE? |
When pool experts use the term "free" chlorine, we
are referring to the active chlorine that is working to sanitize your pool water.
"Total" chlorine, on the other hand, refers to the combination of a active and spent chlorine.
To simplify water analysis, Water Warehouse water testing strips
have been designed to test for free chlorine (or free bromine).
When using a liquid test kit,
please be certain to follow the directions for obtaining free chlorine values. |

WATER WAREHOUSE WATER TESTING LAB
Let Water Warehouse take all the guesswork out of testing your pool or spa water. Simply use your
Test Strips or your Comprehensive Test Kit
to determine the pH, Free Chlorine or Free Bromine (not Total Chlorine or Total Bromine), acid demand and alkalinity
in your pool. Enter the findings above, and let our experts take it from there.
IMPORTANT
Please be advised that there is a difference between “Free” Chlorine or Bromine and “Total” Chlorine or Bromine.
This test is designed to read ONLY free chlorine levels. The “Free” Chlorine or Bromine readings are the only true
level of available sanitizers in your pool’s water. “Total” Chlorine or Bromine readings tend to give you a false
reading based on how often you shock or oxidize your pool water.
Check the test kit you are using to make sure you are getting the correct readings necessary for this application.
If you are using the Test Strips, you are fine and are using the correct reading.
If you are using the Comprehensive Test Kit, double check to make sure you have
the reading for “Free” Chlorine or Bromine.
